Over the weekend I started drawing a picture for my grandma’s birthday. I spent a good hour and a half getting the line work just right, and then I went to bed. I took a small step today toward reclaiming my life. I won’t mention what it was because that’s not what really matters. What matters is I took a step, and it feels good.
Actually, I think I’ve taken many small steps this week. I’m not quite running, and maybe not even walking, but I’m definitely crawling toward freedom.

This morning after I looked at my recent picture again with fresh eyes, I think it’s kind of pretty and maybe worth fixing. I don’t think the critiques will be that hard to apply. As expected, I got a ton of critiques on my last picture. It’s almost pointless to go back and fix the issues, and instead I will probably just focus on the next picture.

I’m trying to do gesture drawings. I really suck at them. But, I think when an artist can start to understand gestures, it gives whole new life to their pictures. Whether or not I’ll ever really get it is up for debate.
